The Board makes high-level decisions by majority vote in public meetings. These include setting the direction of the organization, push the organization in a desired direction through strategic goal setting, creating policies that ensure the legal, ethical, and moral operations, providing oversight to ensure that the policies are being followed, and selecting and managing the person responsible for executing Board goals and policies.

All registered voters within the District Boundary are eligible to run for election. Rancho residents will vote on the representatives of their choice.

There can be times where the commitment is much more. The Board Chair in particular will often require up to six hours above what other members are required to do. Board Members are eligible for $100 per meeting to compensate for the time and expense of attendance.
