• If course is completed successfully: 2-year certification in American Red Cross Lifeguarding (Including Deep Water) with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid certification.
• Must be at least 15 years of age before the first day of class
• Must be proficient in swimming
• Familiarity with English is necessary, as no translation will be offered.
Designed for flexibility, this blended learning course includes 7 hours online and 12–13 hours in person, with most coursework completed asynchronously before class time.
• Access to the American Red Cross Blended Learning online module.
• Over 19 hours of expert instruction from certified American Red Cross instructors.
• Use of all training equipment during the course (rescue tubes, manikins, AED trainers, backboards, first aid supplies).
• A CPR pocket mask for you to keep. Digital certification upon successful completion of all course requirements.
• Surveillance & Prevention: How to recognize and prevent emergencies through effective patron surveillance and facility safety checks.
• Water Rescue Skills: Proficient execution of critical in-water rescues, assists, and extrications using rescue tubes and other equipment.
• Professional CPR/AED: Adult, child, and infant CPR and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use for the professional rescuer.
• First Aid Response: How to manage and treat sudden illnesses, injuries, and environmental emergencies.
• Professional Development: The responsibilities and ethics of a professional lifeguard, including teamwork and communication.

Successfully complete the following pre-course skills evaluation on the first day:
• Swim 300 yards continuously, demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. (100 yards front crawl, 100 yards breaststroke, 100 yards either/or combination).
• Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs.
• Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds without goggles: Swim 20 yards, surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards while holding the object at the surface with both hands and keeping the face out at or near the surface, and back to the starting point with the object, and exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
